Prediction

So far we learnt there was a desert called Camp Green Lake which some criminal boys were sent to. They dug there huge holes every day. If they found anything but sand by digging, they would give it to the Warden who was the head of the camp. People believed it would help them to be a better person. However it is obvious that " to build character " wasn't the real reason why they dug those huge holes.

 At the end of the first chapter we found out there was a treasure in this desert buried hundred years ago by an outlaw called Kissin' Kate Barlow. Then she died while a man and his wife were torturing her to learn where the treasure was buried. So they couldn't learn the exact place but they did know that it was somewhere in the desert. This meant they had to dig every single point to find it.

I guess we'll learn more details about the past of the chraracters.

I think these people who tortured Kissin' Kate Barlow and their descendants had been digging the dry Green Lake to find the treasure for ages. And the Warden, who was in my opinion their grand-granddaughter, founded this Camp Green Lake as a galley slavery camp so she didn't have to dig ( with lots of boys it would be much faster ) and nobody doubted about the treasure. She planned to find the treasure by making the boys dig holes who had naturally no idea about it. If they found the treasure, the Warden would keep it and be rich. Although this plan won't work as she predicted.

Then the story will, I think, continue like that;
Stanley, one of the boys who was sent to Camp Green Lake, will find the treasure but won't give it to the Warden. Instead he will tell the other boys about it and decide to share it with them. But first they need to escape from the camp. One day when the truck comes to the camp to bring water as usual, they will beat the driver up and drive away. In the end Stanley will set a bussines up with the money which he got from the treasure and all the other boys will work for him.

In the begining he was a poor, new member of the Camp Green Lake but now he is rich, respected and happy with his friends and family.

Well, that's my prediction about the end of the story. Let's keep reading and find out if it will turn out true.
